For eons, our self realized clan has been handling treasures of Universe with capricious minds. Hence such whimsical attitude of our minds, the root cause of emotions, is passed on to generations through rote or practice to make us fit recipients of them. A close scrutiny of our daily life would itself reveal that layers of emotions continue to dribble out freely of our day to day activities projecting moods of pain and joy unscrupulously.
What is the net result of these emotions?
For a man of success, puffed ego feeds arrogance and overconfidence whereas restlessness, depression, self pity, jealousy, anger, hatred, dishonesty and other negatives circulate virulently in and out of the man in pain. Hence, there exists total lack of equipoise in both the cases.
Most of the times, we ensure that our bad mood swings develop a ripple effect on our near and dear ones. That’s when emotions become negative energies and affect the environment – both sentient & insentient.
People who could not think of anything beyond their happiness are never amiss to locate. They have the ability and capability to elevate pain in others given every single opportunity, if it benefits their lives. I wish to move away from such negative energies as darkness appears to possess more power to overpower my being. Yes, I am not ashamed to admit that I am still emotionally vulnerable.
However, there co-exists in small number a rare few who could never inflict pain on others at all given opportunities. The access to such people is meant only for a few blessed, it is said. It is not only for the access that I aspire for, but I do wish to become one such in this life, for these souls, it is said, have mastered their playful minds and learnt to whistle the tune of bliss always with a genuine smile, innocent laughter extending their caring hands for a lovely embrace out of compassion.
I am in awe of these divine personalities. Because in my present state of mind, I have only realized out of own experiences that separation from the loved ones for good is the most difficult emotion to overcome. I am slowly coming to terms that it is not child’s play to understand the play of the mind.
I also know that this world is one of constant change and matter is always in recycling process. So too the truth that everything that is born has to die. But the cosmos must have supplied customized answers for every question of the genuine seeker every time such a need arises, isn’t it? In support of my quest, I turned the pages of Bhagavatam accidentally today.
I became curious to know that Uddhava, Sri Krishna’s friend and cousin, had lamented over the decision of the latter to depart from this earth. He even says, “O Kesava, my Lord! To remain even a minute without Thee is impossible for me. Therefore deign to take me also to Thy Realm with Thee.”
Oh God! I understand how it would be to miss a great friend like Sri Krishna.
I was told by my mother during my childhood that the life of Sri Krishna had not been led out of a playful mind.
P.S. The extracts are taken from the translation works of Srimad Bhagavata of Swami Tapasyananda, Ramakrisha Math.

Hi Padmaja,
ReplyDeleteI have come!
Good start! Its true that tunning of mind is one of the most difficult thing. When the desire is strong then the mind gets tunned faster. But again there should be a great effort for that. Its easily said than done.
Gowri
@Gowri - As you said, tuning of the mind to the divine is extremely difficult.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see you here. Welcome, Gowri! :) Stay tuned.
Love,
Padmaja

ReplyDeleteah..that is why you have started with Emotions. Lovely way of dragging a person towards Uddhava Gita :)
ReplyDeleteI am learning English too. I have to refer back dictionary to find the meanings for some of your vocabularies.
Request:- People like me, who are ignorant in English, Thee, Thy etc are obstacle in reading. We have to stop and convert them into You etc. So, please be kind enough and consider them to make in ordinary way.
Dear Padmaja,
ReplyDeletevery beautifully explanied!!!
I know only about uddavva as a character and as one of the dear friend of krishna!
Intresting and happy to hear the conversations of uddavva and krishna.
Waiting for the next post!!!
@Solaikannan - Should I take it as a gentle reminder to write in a better style & language? I shall keep your comment it in mind from the next blog onwards. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your continuous encouragement. Keep visiting.
@Prakashika - I am glad that your interest is kindled. We will keep small steps at a time through my emotions and playful mind in the coming days to walk in the path of divinity.

Dear Padmaja,
ReplyDelete"matter is always in recycling process"
Could you please explain this?
@Prakashika - A very vital question. Appreciate it very much.
ReplyDeleteA rough and quick round up...
* Universe is made up of matter.
* The contributors of matter are the five elements i.e. earth, water, fire, air & ether.
* In simple terms, matter is made up of atoms.
* To narrow down our understanding, it is simply Atomic Physics.
* Whether it is a big star or a small rock, everything undergoes change always.
* We are living in the world of matter. We too are made up of the same five elements. So we are also bound by the law of continuous change.
* Matter in one form appears in another form after a considerable time gap, say, dead trees reappearing in the form of petrol or coal. It applies to single atom in this universe. Hence matter is always in the recycling process.
I've managed to crisply jot down the relevant points. Please let me know if any further explanation is needed. Thanks a lot.
Good Question Prakashika. Padmaja, you have nicely explained. Let me add few words. In the scriptures there is a simple example to explain this. The sand in the form of mud become a pot, wherein it contains a space inside, which can hold some items, thereby it is useful for us and it has a meaning. Once it is broken, the pot becomes sand and it is not having any utility. Whereas the space remains there before and after the breaking of pot. Now in place of pot the scriptures refers our body, which is made up of the 5 elements and the space is related to the Adman. So, the matters like pot, our body etc returns to its original element level in the course of the cycle, whereas the Adman remains as it is. Punarabi Maranam Punarabi Jananam...the same old cycle.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Solaikannan
Dear Padmaja,
ReplyDeleteThank you for answering my question in the way how i can understand and beautifully explained.
Hope i have not troubled you or the flow of writing by asking preliminary questions.
Dear Mr.Solaikannan,
ReplyDeleteThnak you very much for spending time to give me the reply in a simple way.
Clearly understood.
But i have a question again,
If space is related to aatman(which remains unchanged) then
1.what will happen to the aatman that gets united with Supreme soul?
2.In that case also can we use this example of a pot?
Dear Prakashika,
ReplyDelete1.It is one and the same. Inside the pot there is a small space. After it breaks this small space gets united with the mega outer space. If we call the small space as Jeevatma, then the mega outer space is Paramatma or Supreme soul. So, the soul gets united with Supreme soul.
2.m...yes as per Advaita Doctrine. But, as per Dvaita doctrine, they will not accept that all souls get united with Supreme soul. But, as per the teachings of Upanishads of Veda, the Atman is undivided, like the Akash. But, the Akash looks as if it is divided by the formation of pot. Whereas as we know in reality the Akash is undivided. Similarly, the Atman is undivided, but as the pot appears to be divided the individual jeeavas also appear to be divided until they live. For this the scriptures give another example. When there are splash of water droplets on the floor, the sun will be reflected in each drop as if there are many suns and if we gather all the drops then the Sun is one. These are all to prove that the Atman is undivided, but it appears to be divided under the influence of Maya.
Thanks
Solaikannan
@Prakashika - You have made this blog lively and interesting with very relevant questions. I would request you not to hesitate to come out with any number of questions or answers that comes to you.
ReplyDelete@Solaikannan - Beautiful explanation.
Dear Padmaja
ReplyDeleteBad mood swings undoubtedly cause negative energy and it is wise to remain away from such known sources of negative energies.
Displaying the right kind of emotions at the right places and showing concern and love at all times vests only with a blessed few and I agree with you on that.
The Space physics and its relation to the Atman has been explained beautifully by Mr. Solaikannan and you. Prakashika's query was very appropriate too. Your space is the best scope for internal enlightenment. Going good!
